A Beautiful Teaching
Remember that in Kabbalah, the letters of a word carry its essence.
The word for man (eesh / איש ) is made up of the word for
fire/aish/ אש + the letter yud/ י
man= fire+ yud
The word for woman (eeshah / אשה ) is made up of the word for
fire/aish/ אש + the letter hei/ ה
woman= fire + hei
yud/ י+ hei/ ה is a sacred Name of God, Yah= י-ה
Without the spiritual componant, the presence of Yah/ י-ה in a relationship, man and
woman are simply אש /fire, and passion can quickly burn their union to ashes. When
י-ה is present, the hei/ ה can face the yud/ י creating a chet/ ח, the first letter of
chuppah, the holy container in which their passion can be contained and elevated.
